Emma Alvarez Gibson
CEO & Founder
Clients say that my talent is spooky. It does seem to border on the psychic, but perhaps it’s just deep mastery. Whatever it is: I am able to read people and know exactly how they (and their services and products) need to be positioned. It’s impossible to replicate — and it makes me very good at what I do. With more than 20 years of creative marketing experience, I’ve made my mark on global corporations and bespoke advisories alike. In both English and Spanish, I have energized and streamlined messaging across sectors, including retail, libraries, higher education, health and wellness, manufacturing, automotive, and publishing. My work is rooted in culture-shaping, innovation, and clarity.
A Los Angeles native, I have considered other places but can’t seem to do without the sunshine and the Pacific Ocean. I live with my husband, our teenager, and three troublesome dogs. A massive language nerd, I learned English and Spanish simultaneously, studied Italian in college, and have an on-again, off-again relationship with language apps (German! French! Irish!). I’ve acted, played guitar and sung onstage, and have recorded music. In my spare time I’m writing a novel and very slowly knitting a blanket.
Bryon Sheffield
Founder & Director of Strategy
Most folks call me Shef, but my mom still calls me Bryon, so I do answer to it.
I’ve done my thing for companies of all shapes and sizes, from pre-seed start-ups to multinational enterprises. I’ve grown audiences, built communities, and delivered revenue for everything from mattresses to Master’s degrees, credit scores to Converse. I’ve worn hats across the spectrum of marketing disciplines as well as a few outside of it. And, I’ve seen things from both sides: success and failure.
I crave building. Right now, I’m building Crow Haus with my 5th grade bestie, Emma. We were only 10 then, so it’s not odd we missed the universe’s signals. We’ve come to believe there is a better way to build businesses. Just because something works doesn’t mean you should do it. Money is not the final answer. We have an opportunity and an obligation to build things that put good in the world.
I enjoy spending time in deep thought and discussion, especially relating to how we build businesses, how business should be as much art as science, and how we continue to fail at using business to elevate humanity. I believe deeply in the power of curiosity, equity, and love, despite the fact that those core beliefs and many of their corresponding values are used as platitudes or punchlines. I am optimistic about the future.
Veronica Orozco
Content Strategist
I’m an LA-based content strategist with more than 20 years of experience weaving brand tales via words and images to create award-winning campaigns. I believe every story needs a human touch, and that guides my work in transforming complex messages into compelling narratives. Whether it’s a high-profile event featuring elected officials or a nonprofit outreach effort, my writing skills, visual design expertise, and digital marketing savvy bring stories to life. I joined Crow Haus in part because I love the philosophy of doing good work with good people; my aim, always, is to make a positive impact in my community.
For the past 12 years, I have supported Corazón de Vida, aiding children in orphanages in Baja California. I volunteer monthly at A Place Called Home, bagging groceries for families in South LA, and also serve as a career coach with Foster Nation, helping young adults who have aged out of the foster system. Most Sundays, you’ll find me in the kids’ wing of my church, sharing my time and energy with the next generation. I’m also a karaoke enthusiast — which is different from being a talented singer — and a diehard LA Dodgers and LAFC fan. Having spent over a decade as a semi-professional salsa dancer, I’ve got some moves! But of all of these roles, my favorite is being the best tía to my two nieces.
